How do I physically install the tracking device on my boat, and do I need any special tools?

The tracking device can be installed using magnets, screws, bolts, rivets and more. No special tools are required for installation.

Is the device waterproof and suitable for offshore marine conditions?

The device has an Ultra-rugged and waterproof IP68 and IK07-rated housing that ensures the device can withstand impact, fine dust, and brief submersion.

What is the coverage range of the tracking device—does it work far out at sea?

The device does work at sea, the coverage range is variable depending on network setup.

The Oyster tracker is a multiband device working on a global sim.

How do I register the device after installation, and what information do I need to provide?

We require the client’s contact details as well as email address to setup up a secure profile and access to our web portal and mobile app.

Will I receive alerts or notifications if the device loses connection or detects unusual movement?

Yes, alerts are custom and can be set up according to the client’s requirements, alerts can be received via SMS, email or push notification using our mobile app.

How accurate is the location tracking, and how often does it update?

Location accuracy is less than 2m and updates can be adjusted according to the client’s requirements, keep in mind update intervals will affect battery life.

Are there any subscription or monthly fees after purchase, and what do they cover?

Yes, there is a monthly fee, this covers access to the tracking platform as well as data costs.

What happens if the device is tampered with or removed?

Nothing, this device is not wired into the asset and therefore there is no early warning component. If the client requires tamper detection, we can do this via a Bluetooth tag, however this would be an additional cost.

How long does the battery last, and can it be recharged or replaced easily?

Battery life is variable depending on usage and upload rate.

You can expect between 12 to 24 months battery life on average.

Batteries can be replaced with 3 AA Energizer lithium batteries available at most retailers nationwide.

Is there customer support available if I run into issues during installation or after I register?
